Evènements et manifestations 13/04/2017 Doctorate thesis defense of Rahma BOURAOUI![]() Doctorate thesis defense on April 13th 2017 at 09H00 AM ,in Amphi I, Sup’Com. Entitled :Spectrum Sensing and Resource Allocation in Cognitive Radio Networks Presented by : Rahma BOURAOUI Committee
AbstractCognitive radio has been proposed to solve the spectrum under-utilization issue and to promote efficient use of the latter. This technology enables users called secondary users to, opportunistically, access to the spectrum used by licensed users. Among the challenges that arise during the implementation of this concept is determining the spectrum availability based on spectrum sensing techniques and defining resource allocation algorithms in order to maximize the total throughput of the cognitive system while avoiding to generate harmful interference to the primary users. In this thesis, we have, first, studied different spectrum sensing techniques and we have proposed to improve the accuracy of detection using cooperative approaches based on censored energy detection. Besides, we proposed a new fusion rule that improves the detection accuracy based on users’ diversity. As well, several detection thresholds selection schemes are defined for more spectrum sensing reliability. Finally, a resource allocation algorithm is proposed to solve the spectrum access issue under various constraints most essential of which are the limitation of generated interference and consideration of an imperfect information about the spectrum availability.
